BRUNO LILJEFORS

Noted
for his combined painting style of realism and impressionism,
Bruno Liljefors was born on May 14, 1860 in Uppsala, Sweden.
As a child Liljefors spent his time drawing and exploring the
outdoors. Liljefors studied under K.G. Holmgren and at
Stockholm Royal Academy of Art. He left the Academy and
traveled abroad, studying for a short time under animal
painter C.F. Deiker. He married Anna Olofsson in 1887 whom he
divorced and in 1895 married her younger sister Signe Olofsson.
Liljefors, an active falconer, drew his inspiration from
observations noted in the wild. He died on December 18, 1939
in Stockholm, Sweden.
